Charles de Vilmorin, the Frenchman who, at only 24 years old, already occupies a place in the fashion Olympus

Rochas’s chair had been empty for a year, when Alessandro Dell’Acqua announced his departure from the French house. Just yesterday, the house announced the name of its new creative director, Charles de Vilmorin. At just 24 years old, Vilmorin is already on the list of new fashion darlings. Quick guide to catching up on this new industry name.

Only three weeks ago he presented his first collection during Haute Couture in Paris, getting unanimous applause from critics and the public.

“I really want to be able to bring my personal touch to Rochas and reinterpret the codes of this house,” said the creator on his Instagram account. And, surely Vilmorin is not going to settle for diving into his archives. His numerous artistic and cultural references will be present from his first collection at the head of the house.
If Vilmorin knows something, as a worthy son of his time, he is from social networks. On his own Instagram account (@charlesdevilmorin), with 47 thousand followers, the Frenchman shows not only his collection but also his particular inspirations. We are sure that he will also want to take over the controls of the Rochas house networks and print his particular vision of fashion.

beginning

The Frenchman has just graduated from the School of the Syndical Chamber of Haute Couture in Paris. And they say that his particular vision of fashion caught the attention of his teachers from the beginning.
“Rochas is a brand that has a special place in my heart also due to family ties,” said the creator in networks. His great-aunt, Louise de Vilmorin, was a friend of Hélène Rochas, Rochas’s wife, so since childhood this firm has been very present in his family.

For now (and until no one tells him otherwise), the creator will reconcile his work at Rochas with that of creative director of his own firm, being able to parade in Haute Couture to continue showing his way of understanding fashion.

Among his favorite references, the Frenchman has always cited John Galliano, Alexander McQueen and Lacroix. But art is also an inexhaustible source of inspiration, especially the paintings of Dalí and Matisse.
